San Carlos doesn't have megaclubs, but it has 9 genuinely good bars, beach clubs, and nightspots — honest reviews, hours, and what to order in each.
Coralito Beach Club
"Coralito has the best combination in San Carlos: beach out front, 2-for-1 margaritas at happy hour, blankets for the cool sunset breeze, and music at a volume where you can still have a conversation. People arrive for dinner and stay until midnight."
With 1,639 Google reviews, Coralito is the most popular beach club in San Carlos. The menu covers everything — seafood, sushi, tacos, grilled meats — and the bar matches with well-made cocktails. The 2-for-1 margarita happy hour is legendary. Fridays and Saturdays they stay open until midnight.
Great music! One of the best places to watch the sunset. Two-for-one margaritas at happy hour. Plus they supply blankets for sunset!
Really fun beachfront dining experience. Lots of seating, all with great views! Food was fresh, clean, and seafood was a delight.
Maukaa Restaurant & Beach Club
"Maukaa is San Carlos' answer to 'I want beach by day and nightlife by night without changing venues.' Live DJ on Fridays and Saturdays until 3 AM, a pool, swing seats at the bar, and sushi that is actually good."
The most modern concept in San Carlos: beach club by day, club by night. Friday and Saturday DJ nights go until 3 AM. The pool with swing seats at the bar is the obligatory Instagram shot. The sushi is genuinely good. 539 Google reviews.
We had sushi — the best I've had since leaving New Zealand! Amazing view and tasty food, good service from everyone.
They close till 3AM — I wasn't expecting that! Great time, great music with DJ on the spot. Beer was cold and service was great.
Hammerhead's
"Hammerhead's brings together everyone in San Carlos: locals, American expats, surfers, and families at the same terrace. The circular bar where everyone faces each other is great for meeting people. Live band on Wednesdays. Dog friendly."
With 1,379 reviews and 4.5 stars, Hammerhead's is the highest-rated bar in San Carlos. The round outdoor bar where customers sit facing each other encourages conversation. Live music on Wednesdays. The terrace with views of Cerro Tetakawi is spectacular. Open until midnight.
We sat outside to listen to the live band. They have a round bar with seating around it so groups can face each other. I've never seen this before — it was very cool!
Excellent place to have dinner after a beach day, specially on Wednesdays because they have live music. The view of the Tetakawi hills has no price.
Sunset Bar & Grill
"Sunset has the view no one can take from it: Los Algodones bay straight ahead, the sun dropping into the Sea of Cortez, and a sangria in hand. The live music on weekends is genuinely good. Reserve in advance."
The definitive sunset bar of San Carlos, with 1,191 reviews. The Sonoran margarita and seasonal stuffed peppers are the standard orders. Live music on weekends. The front tables facing the sea are reserved for the sunset hour.
We went mid afternoon with no reservations. All the tables were reserved for sunset, but there was plenty of room before that. The food was great and the live music was fabulous!
The Sonoran margarita was amazing. And the ribs were perfectly cooked and tasted like pig candy. I could sit here all evening and sip sangria!
La Zurda Beer Co.
"La Zurda is the place San Carlos needed: a craft brewery with its own production, real food, and open mic nights that turn any Thursday into a memorable evening. Dog friendly, vegan-friendly, everything-friendly."
The highest-rated bar in this guide at 4.7 stars. La Zurda produces its own craft beer and serves local Sonoran beers like Buqui Bichi. Menu of Neapolitan-style pizzas with uncommon combinations. Live music and open mic several nights a week.
The best brewery in San Carlos with a great selection of their own beer and local Sonoran beers. Tasty bar food including ceviche, ribs, and gourmet pizza. They have live music a few nights a week. The decor is a creative mix that includes punk posters — it works.
A must-visit in San Carlos! Craft cocktails, tasty mocktails, and a large selection of beers. The live music and open mic nights create an amazing atmosphere.
Marvida Taproom & Kitchen
"Marvida is the marina taproom: house-brewed beers, quality tacos, and sailboats in the background. Taco Tuesdays are a solid plan for anyone in San Carlos midweek."
Located at the marina's Muelle Iguana dock, Marvida produces local beer and has several house taps plus guests. 187 reviews at 4.3 stars. Taco Tuesdays are popular and the terrace with sailboat views is one of the most characteristic settings in San Carlos.
Visiting from Los Angeles and had the best shrimp tacos at Marvida! My favorite beer was The Santos but Orange Dream was a close runner up. Our big group had a fabulous time.
We actually ended up here three times. Each time we weren't disappointed. Nice selection of beers on tap, made locally. Taco Tuesday was awesome — we all ordered more.
Burger Rrey — Craft Beer
"When you have eaten all the seafood you can handle in San Carlos, Burger Rrey is waiting: the best burgers in town with cold craft beer and a patio with sea views. The staff is the most enthusiastic in the entire guide."
With 4.7 stars and a clear concept — craft burgers + craft beer — Burger Rrey is the perfect alternative when you need a break from mariscos. The staff recommends burger and beer pairings with genuine enthusiasm. The patio has sea views.
The hospitality and service at this restaurant is by far the absolute best in San Carlos. After being frustrated by terrible service in many well-known joints, it is refreshing to walk in and be greeted with enthusiasm.
Stopped in one night while visiting San Carlos and enjoyed the burger and beer! Nice staff, tasty food, and a great location with a view of the sea from the patio.
KCS Sport & Bar
"If you have a Cowboys game, a Padres game, or any other league going, KCS is where you go. 15 pool tables, dozens of screens, and a functional bar. You don't go for the acoustics — it was a bowling alley and it sounds like one — you go because there is nowhere else in San Carlos to watch the Super Bowl like this."
Built in what was formerly a bowling alley, KCS has the most complete sports infrastructure in San Carlos: roughly 15 pool tables and the same number of screens for live sports. NFL, MLB, NBA, soccer. The acoustics are the only real problem: sound bounces without dampening. Open until 2:30 AM on Saturdays.
Plenty of screens to view sporting events. Good food, drinks, and service. Great for playing pool. It's a loud place — noise bounces off the walls.
15 pool tables if you play pool, about the same amount of TVs. Large screen sports bar. Viewed NFL game.
Xunuta
"Xunuta is the closest thing to a city nightclub San Carlos has. Lights, loud music, craft cocktails, and the rooster murals that make it unmistakable. When it works, the vibe is good. The problem: the service has failed enough people that it warrants a warning."
The only establishment in San Carlos that operates as an urban nightclub. Good cocktail selection, lights, and electronic music. There is a minimum spend for table seating and a cover charge on certain nights. Reviews are very polarized: those who have a good time love it; those who don't get good service criticize it hard.
It's a bar with good service and loud music plus lights. If you are a youngster and have money to spend, this is the place. The food is great — should try the short ribs.
Went with family for cocktails and they were incredible. A huge selection. We will be back!
